Parker Bestobell Secures $5mln Contract

Parker Bestobell Marine, a supplier of cryogenic valves and part of Parker, a global leader in motion and control technologies, has secured a nine vessel order, worth $5m, making it the single biggest order that the company to date. The contract is with DSME (Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering) in South Korea to supply cryogenic globe and the vessels are part of a series of 15 liquid natural gas (LNG) carriers destined for the Yamal gas field in Russian Siberia.
US-flag Lakes Cargos Down in October

U.S.-flag Great Lakes freighters (lakers) moved 8.8 million tons of cargo in October, a decrease of 9.2 percent compared to a year ago, and 10.2 percent below the month’s five-year average, according to the Lake Carriers’ Association (LCA). October was also the sixth consecutive month in which cargos trailed the previous year. Iron ore cargos for the steel industry totaled 4.4 million tons in October, an increase of 5.3 percent compared to a year ago.
New Dive Support Vessel for Technip

Technip’s latest newbuild, the diving support vessel (DSV) Deep Explorer, was officially named on Saturday, November 12, in Norway. The traditional naming ceremony was held at VARD’s Langsten shipyard. The vessel godmother was Heidi Brovoll-Bø, wife of Knut Bø, President of Technip’s North Sea Canada region. The vessel hull was built by Vard Tulcea shipyard in Romania, and then towed to Vard Langsten in Norway for equipment outfitting and commissioning.
ABB, MTU Test VCM System Durability
