Manufacturer of technologically advanced industrial and marine braking systems Dellner Brakes AB has launched what it is calling âthe worldâs first fully automated, electrical âStop, Turn, Lockâ (eSTL) braking systemâ at Septemberâs SMM 2016 international marine fair in Hamburg. The Dellner eSTL system is compact and needs no additional piping, making it quick, easy and cost effective to install, the manufacturer said â especially where space is at a premium.
New Tractor Tug for Jones Marine Group

The new workboat was put through its paces in fine form. The boat is an A.G. McIlwain-designed 53 by 26.5-foot handy-sized tractor tug with a hefty14-foot molded depth. The beam offers remarkable stability, while the length allows the tug to work in tight spaces.

The shipment consists primarily of built-for-stock vessels â Stan Pontoons and Tugs â which will be available for immediate purchase on arrival in Rotterdam in October. MV Svenjaâs voyage began in Shanghai on August 30th when she started loading eight Stan Pontoons that were built at Damen Yichang Shipyard, China.
Maersk Line Orders 14,800 New Reefer Containers

Maersk Line has ordered 14,800 new reefer containers in 2016, driving the average age of its 270,000 unit reefer container fleet down to 7.9 years. Part of the reefers replace older equipment, and add to the 30,000 reefers acquired by Maersk Line in 2015. âWe continue to invest and modernize our reefer fleet to include the latest technologies in supply chain visibility and cargo care,â said Shereen Zarkani, Head of Reefer Management, Maersk Line.
Danish Ferry Equipped with Wärtsilä 31 Engines

A new 158-meter-long car and passenger ferry being built for Danish operator Mols-Linien will be powered by two eight-cylinder Wärtsilä 31 main engines. The ship is being built at the Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC) shipyard in Finland. The Wärtsilä 31 was introduced to the market in 2015 and has been recognized by Guinness World Records as being the world's most efficient four-stroke diesel engine.
