Chesapeake Shipbuilding Corp. announced it has signed contracts with Vane Brothers to build three more ocean going tugs, marking the 18th, 19th and 20th tugboats built by Chesapeake Shipbuilding for Vane Brothers since 2008. Containership Catches Fire in Hamburg
A fire erupted aboard the 9,030 TEU containership CCNI Arauco berthed at the port of Hamburg, causing injuries to three workers. Hamburg police reported that the blaze broke out aboard the 300-meter Liberian flagged vessel while in harbor around noon local time. The fire, which according to initial reports was said to be caused by welding work aboard the ship, is being battled by fireboats as well as firefighters on the ground. The injured workers are being treated in a nearby hospital.
