New Tour Vessel for Mary D Cruises
A new high-end tour vessel is scheduled to be delivered to for Mary D Cruises of New Caledonia in late 2016. Designed by Incat Crowther with styling reminiscent of a yacht, the new vessel is being built by Strategic Marine to replace an existing vessel in Mary D Cruises’ fleet. The main deck is arranged to support the transit operation by day and dinner cruises in the evening to tourist destination Amedee Island.

Passenger Vessel Allides with Pier in Baltimore
Passenger vessel Spirit of Baltimore struck the pier at Henderson Wharf Marina in Baltimore, Sunday morning, causing 60 feet of damage to the pier and cosmetic damage to the vessel’s hull. There were 447 people aboard at the time of the incident. U.S. Coast Guard investigators from Sector Maryland-National Capital Region are investigating the incident and assessing the damage to the vessel and pier. The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
USS Freedom Suffers Casualty
The U.S. Navy's first littoral combat ship USS Freedom (LCS 1) experienced a casualty to one of its main propulsion diesel engines (MPDE) on July 11 reportedly caused by a leak from the attached seawater pump mechanical seal that resulted in seawater entering the engine lube oil system, according to the Navy. The ship’s crew addressed the leak, enabling Freedom to return to homeport July 13 on her own power for repairs on a separate, unrelated issue.
