Italy raised the security level at its tourist ports on Thursday, a coastguard spokesman said, meaning intensified controls of people and vehicles during the height of the summer tourist season. An ailing crewmember aboard an oil tanker was medevaced by the U.S. Coast Guard roughly 12 miles south of Oahu, Hawaii, Wednesday. The crewman, a 45-year-old citizen of India, was said to be suffering from heart attack symptoms when personnel aboard the ship contacted watchstanders at the Coast Guard Joint Rescue Coordination Center at 11 a.m. Saturday requesting assistance. Asia's cruise industry is growing at a record pace and shows no signs of slowing down, according to the latest 2016 Asia Cruise Trends study from Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA). Asian source markets experienced the most growth year over year in ocean cruise passengers with an impressive 24 percent increase from 2014 to 2015 and a total of 2.08 million passengers in 2015, the study found.
