US Coast Guard Cutter Rush Decommissioned
The U.S. Coast Guard held a decommissioning ceremony at Base Honolulu Tuesday for Coast Guard Cutter Rush, which will be sold to the Bangladesh Navy and replaced by Coast Guard Cutter Sherman. The ceremony honored 45 years of Rush’s service to the Coast Guard. Vice Adm. Charles W. Ray, Coast Guard Pacific Area commander, presided over the event. After having performed the life-time extension works on the Stanislav Yudin (owned and operated by Seaway Heavy Lifting) in 2013-2014 at Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam (DSR), part of Damen Shiprepair & Conversion, the yard has been awarded a new contract by Technip for the drydocking, upgrades and operational modifications to the deepwater rigid pipe S-lay and heavy lift vessel, the Global 1200. The vessel arrived at the yard in January 2015.

RayClean BWTS Earns USCG AMS Acceptance
DESMI Ocean Guard’s RayClean Ballast Water Treatment System (BWTS) has earned Alternate Management System (AMS) acceptance from the United States Coast Guard (USCG). On January 30, 2015, the USCG granted AMS acceptance to RayClean BWTS, the system’s developer DESMI Ocean Guard A/S announced today. The AMS acceptance covers all salinities ranging from freshwater to marine water, something that only eight out of 52 issued AMS acceptances have achieved to date.
