Wintershall Takes Over Operatorship of Norwegian Subsea Oil and Gas Field
Wintershall has taken over the operatorship of the subsea oil and gas field Vega from Statoil, Wintershall announced today. Vega is the BASF subsidiary’s first operated subsea tie-in field in Norway. With this transfer, Germany-based Wintershall now operates two production fields on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, Brage and Vega. The takeover of the Vega operatorship is part of a transaction with Statoil that was completed in December 2014.
Port of San Pedro Seeks to Fund Upgrades with European Roadshow
Ivory Coast's second largest port of San Pedro will hold a roadshow in France and Britain next month as it seeks to raise 180 billion CFA francs ($300 million) to fund upgrades, the port's director said. San Pedro is already the world's leading port for cocoa exports, shipping more than half of total output from Ivory Coast, the top producer of the chocolate ingredient. It also exports coffee, palm oil, timber and cotton.

Two Mooring Tugs Delivered to NSW
Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ) has delivered two new Qatari-built mooring tugs to towage operator Nakilat SvitzerWijsmuller (NSW). The delivery of the two ASD 2810 tugs is part of a seven-vessel order that the yard is currently working on for NSW. The first of the new tugs, named Umm Al Shubrum, completed sea trials in Ras Laffan in mid-January 2015. She was followed in February by the second vessel, Al Kharsaah. Both vessels will operate as part of Nakilat NSW’s growing fleet.
Senate Committee Approves Vessel Discharge Reform Legislation
The effort to establish a uniform national framework for the regulation of vessel discharges took another step forward as the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation approved S. 373, the Vessel Incidental Discharge Act, with strong bipartisan support. A broad-based coalition of nearly 60 organizations joined the American Waterways Operators in urging the committee to approve VIDA.
