CMA CGM Takes Delivery of its Largest Ship
The CMA CGM Group last week received the largest vessel of its fleet, a 17,722 TEU containership CMA CGM Kerguelen, to be christened May 12 in Le Havre. CMA CGM Kerguelen measures 398 meters long and 54 meters wide, making it the largest container ship in the CMA CGM fleet. It has capacity for 17,722 twenty-foot equivalent containers. CMA CGM KERGUELEN will be positioned in the shipper’s French Asia Line, which links Europe to Asia.

Oil Tanker Free after Grounding off Texas
An oil tanker has been refloated after running aground last Tuesday 35 miles east of Galveston, Texas. The SN Federica, a 750-foot Italian flagged oil tanker carrying more than 400,000 barrels of crude oil (nearly 17 million gallons), ran aground while transiting into the Galveston Fairway. The grounding caused the ship to incur damage to the forepeak of the vessel, leading to an ingress of water which was later determined to be ballast water and the ship was not leaking.

HHI Orders Refrigeration, Cold Stores for FPSO
Goliat, the first cylindrical floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel on the Norwegian Continental Shelf built for Eni Norge and partner Statoil at Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), will feature ALMACO’s cold stores and refrigeration machinery. Hyundai Heavy Industries awarded the contract to ALMACO Group in July of 2011, and ALMACO finalized the commissioning work at the end of 2014.
