DELO Invests to Boost Shipping Business

Over the past three years, DELO Group, a Russian private transport company, has implemented an investment program, including rail and other adjacent port infrastructure, construction of stevedoring and inland storage terminals for oil products, construction of the KSK grain terminal, acquisition of 50% of the NUTEP container terminal from its JV partner and an expansion program turning the terminal into a chief container terminal throughout Russian coasts.

The International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) has updated its forward strategy and work plan for the upcoming year at its 69th Council meeting held in Santa Margherita, Italy, chaired by Roberto Cazzulo, Chairman of RINA Services and outgoing IACS chairman. During the three days of Council high-level meetings were held with the IMO Secretary-General and Industry representatives, who participated at relevant sessions of the Council meeting.
OW Bunker Launches 3rd Barge in Singapore

OW Bunker, a physical distributor and reseller of marine fuels, today announced the launch of its third barge in Singapore. According to the company, the move is part of its strategy to continue the expansion of its physical operation in the region. The vessel also has a Coriolis Flow Meter installed, which has been approved by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). Marine Noel, operated by Sinanju Tankers Pte Ltd, is a modern, 4,700 DWT barge, built in 2012.

In the past few weeks, Harding, an international supplier of maritime safety equipment, has signed three framework agreements with Statoil, Petrobras and A.P. Møller Mærsk. "This shows that our global strategy of being a complete supplier of both equipment and services was the right strategy for the company," said Styrk Bekkenes, CEO of Harding. Statoil is Harding's biggest client on the Norwegian continental shelf, with over 120 lifeboat systems in operation.

Western Australia's Environment Minister, Greg Hunt, has approved plans to build a $500 million coal export facility at Bunbury Port. Construction is expected to start in mid-2015, with the first exports planned for 2017. Coal for exports will travel to the port by rail.
