Lamprell to Deliver 2 Additional Rigs for NDC
Lamprell received a new contract award valued at approximately $365 million from National Drilling Company (NDC) for the construction and delivery of two further high specification jackup drilling rigs of a Super 116E (Enhanced) Class. Lamprell was previously awarded contracts by NDC for a series of six identical rigs and is on schedule to complete construction of the final two jackup rigs, having already delivered the first four on time and on budget.
Speedcast Secures Deal with AMPTC
SpeedCast International Limited announced that it has been awarded a multiyear contract from Arab Maritime Petroleum Transport Company (AMPTC), a provider of maritime transport services of hydrocarbon substances in the Middle East region. SpeedCast will provide satellite network connectivity for AMPTC’s entire fleet of vessels. SpeedCast will provide each AMPTC vessel with end-to-end VSAT services that enable corporate networking, Internet access, voice communications, and crew welfare services.
CMA CGM to Apply Low Sulfur Surcharge
CMA CGM said it will implement a low sulfur surcharge on all its trades in Emission Control Areas (ECAs) and for all cargos as of January 1, 2015. MARPOL Annex VI regulations for the prevention of air pollution from ships assign Sulfur Oxides (SOx) Emission Control Areas (ECA) with more stringent controls on sulfur emissions. Stricter regulations covering the sulfur content of fuel oil will be strengthened by local regulators in the European Union, U.S. and Canada.
Partnership Offers Offshore Weather Monitoring
StormGeo and Deep Sea Mooring have signed an agreement to provide notifications of weather-related movements of floating offshore units and vessels undertaking complex marine operations. The service, which aims to help customers save money and time while enhancing planning and safety standards, will see StormGeo publish and support the notifications while Deep Sea Mooring will be responsible for the hydrodynamic models and all calculations of motion resulting from the expected weather.
