Catamaran Passenger Ferries Delivered in Angola

Incat Crowther announced the delivery a pair of 30m catamaran passenger ferries, MacĂ´co and Panguila, to Instituto MarĂtimo e Portuário de Angola. The vessels, built by Astilleros Armon in Spain, will be operated by subsidiary TMA Express. MacĂ´co and Panguila are the first deliveries in an aggressive infrastructure-building project that also includes a pair of 36m ferries – also constructed by Astilleros Armon - to be delivered shortly.
Renewable Energy: Schottel Tidal Turbines Ready For Use

In the last months Schottel successfully tested its hydrokinetic turbines in Strangford Lough, Northern Ireland. The full-scale tests included 260 operating hours under realistic conditions. The result: One turbine with a rotor diameter of four meters generates 50 kW per second at a rated water velocity of 2.75 meters per second. 10 hours of operation provide enough electricity to supply an average household for a month.

Statoil: New Oil in the Grane Area

Statoil has together with PL169 partners proved new oil resources in the D-structure in the vicinity of the Grane field in the North Sea. Well 25/8-18 S, drilled by the rig Transocean Leader, proved an oil column of 25 m in the Heimdal Formation. The estimated volume of the discovery is in the range of 30-80 million barrels of recoverable oil. "We are pleased with having proved new oil resources in the Grane area," said May-Liss Hauknes, Statoil vice president for exploration in the North Sea.

UAE-based Lamprell said that it completed construction of the second Caspian Sea jackup drilling rig, Mercury, for service in the Caspian Sea.
