US Navy Vessel Heads Home Following Fire
U.S. Fleet Forces announced late Monday that USS Hue City (CG 66) would return to her homeport of Mayport, Fla. on her own power following a fire that occurred April 14. No injuries to the crew were reported. According to the U.S. Navy, USS Hue City is currently in transit toward Mayport in company with USS Gettysburg (CG 64). Both ships are scheduled to return to port on Friday morning. The extent of the damage is being assessed, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

To answer, USS Slater is at Caddell Dry Dock and Repair in Staten Island. Typically, the ship is open to the public in Albany near the beginning of April. This season, after several years of fundraising, the ship has been taken to drydock for repairs to her hull. It’s been over 20 years since the ship has been in drydock, so this project is due. Drydocking is being funded by private individuals and foundations as no government funding is being used for this project.

McDermott Signs Agreement for North Sea Spoolbase
McDermott International, Inc. announced that one of its subsidiaries has signed an option agreement with PD Ports which gives it the exclusive right to operate a spoolbase to serve projects in the North Sea. McDermott expects to have the facility available for projects in early 2015.
