Aker to Deliver Drilling Package in the North Sea
Aker Solutions won a contract from Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) to deliver a drilling equipment package for the production platform at the Mariner oilfield in the U.K. North Sea. The parties agreed not to disclose the value of the order, which includes a complete topside equipment package. Aker Solutions will also provide necessary support services at DSME's shipyard in South Korea and during the offshore installation phase.
Reflex Marine Reports 52% Growth
Reflex Marine reported 52% growth in the last year through expanding global markets. Reflex said it has reached £5.8 million turnover, almost double its forecasted growth of 27% - with a profit before tax of around £1 million. Reflex Marine will donate 7.5% of its net profits (a record c.£56,000) to charitable causes via its not-for-profit Reflex Foundation. Reflex Marine supplies crew transfer devices and associated services.

USACE Tugboat Sunk in St. Mary's River, Great Lakes Area
Coast Guard crews are continuing to respond to a tug that sank in the upper St. The tug Bill Maier, which was towing three barges and the tug Hammond Bay alerted Coast Guard Sector Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. when the crew lost sight of the Hammond Bay. After securing the barges, the Bill Maier’s crew attempted to locate the lost tug. They reported finding an oil sheen and a life ring from the lost tug, which led them to believe that the tug had sunk.
BMT Awarded NDLO Ship Design Contract
BMT Defence Services Ltd , a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, has announced that it has been confirmed as design contractor for the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation ’s (NDLO) logistics and support vessel (LSV), supported by sister companies BMT Reliability Consultants Ltd and BMT Isis Ltd. The auxiliary vessel, designed to cover a multitude of roles and to be built by DSME in their Okpo yard, will measure 180 metres in length, 26 metres in beam, and have a displacement of over 26,000tonnes.
