IHC Merwede President Appointed SEA Europe Chairman
The European Ships and Maritime Equipment Association (SEA Europe) has announced that IHC Merwede’s President, Govert Hamers, will succeed Lars Gørvell-Dahll as Chairman in October 2013. Mr. Gørvell-Dahll’s will step down midway through his tenure to become the Managing Director of the maritime arm of the Federation of Norwegian Industries. SEA Europe was jointly founded in Brussels last year by European shipbuilders, ship repairers and maritime suppliers.

London Array Offshore Windfarm Inaugurated
The world's largest offshore wind farm (OWF) London Array has 175 Siemens wind turbines installed. Together with Dong Energy, Siemens will also be responsible for the service of the wind turbines through a long-term agreement. The wind power plant owned, developed and built by a consortium consisting of Dong Energy, E.ON and Masdar has a total capacity of 630 megawatts (MW) and will generate enough power to supply 500,000 British households with clean electricity.

Rolls-Royce Wins Brazil OSV Contract
Rolls-Royce contracted by Aliança S/A Industria Naval e Empresa de Navegacao, a subsidiary of Fischer Group, and Brazilian shipowner Asgaard Navegação S.A for the design and delivery of equipment to two offshore vessels for Asgaard. The contract value is about £11million to Rolls-Royce. The two vessels are Oil Spill Response Vessels (OSRV), type UT 535 E, with systems designed to prevent damage from oil spills. They have the capacity to transfer recovered oil for proper onshore disposal.
