Ulstein Delivers Fourth PSV in PX121 Series
Ulstein Verft delivered Blue Thunder, the fourth of six medium-sized platform supply vessels of the PX121 design from Ulsteinto Blue Ship Invest, on Monday, May 13, 2013. Owned by Blue Ship Invest, a wholly-owned company in Ulstein Group, the platform supply vessel (PSV) is commercially and technically under the management of Atlantic Offshore. Blue Thunder will enter a four-month contract with Statoil, with four monthly options.
DNV Relaunches Standard for Offshore Service Modules
DNV has completely rewritten the standard for Offshore Service Modules certification, commonly referred to as DNV 2.7-2, which was first published in 1995. On June 11, 2013, DNV will roll this out to an industry seminar taking place at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Center (AECC). This event will look at the issues surrounding the management and use of temporary equipment on offshore installations and how the new Standard for Certification may provide some clear guidance.
PC Maritime to Install ECDIS in 50-vessel China Shipping Deal
PC Maritime’s Navmaster ECDIS has been chosen by China Shipping Group to be fitted to 50 newbuild bulk carriers. This large ECDIS fleet contract was negotiated by Bogerd Martin NV’s subsidiary company, Bogerd Martin China, based in Shanghai. The vessels vary in size between 46,000 dwt and 76,000 dwt. Ten vessels already have single Navmaster ECDIS installed and the remaining 40 bulk carriers are to be equipped during the next 12 months.

Rickmers CEO Joins Annual International Maritime Hall of Fame
Ron Widdows, CEO of Rickmers Group and Rickmers-Linie, was inducted into the Annual International Maritime Hall of Fame in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the global maritime industry. He was one of only six people awarded the honor in a ceremony in New York on May 8, 2013 at a dinner attended by 400 maritime industry colleagues. Other inductees included Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller, Chairman, A.P. Møller-Maersk (posthumous award) and Michael Bloomberg, the Mayor of New York City.
Nam Cheong Shipyard Contracted for Five Offshore Vessels
