BAE Systems holds a keel laying ceremony for the first of 4 platform supply vessels for Jackson Offshore Operators. The new vessels, which will support drilling operations in the Gulf of Mexico, reflect BAE SystemsÂ’ continued growth in U.S. commercial shipbuilding and its support to the offshore oil and gas industry. Concurrently, the company also began construction on a second vessel. A keel laying ceremony is a shipbuilding tradition that celebrates the beginning of the life of a ship.
Austal-built JHSV 2 Completes Navy Acceptance Trials
Joint High Speed Vessel 'USNS Choctaw County' (JHSV 2) has successfully completed Acceptance Trials in the Gulf of Mexico. This milestone achievement involved the performance of intense comprehensive tests by the Navy while underway, which demonstrated the successful operation of the ship’s major systems and equipment. It was the last significant milestone before delivery of the ship, which is expected in June.

Mobdock Facilitates Onsite Underwater Ship Repair
In February, Hydrex diver/technician teams carried out underwater stern tube seal repairs on a 139-meter container vessel in Port Everglades, Fla., close to the company’s office in Clearwater. The vessel was suffering from an oil leak, making a fast repair necessary.
