VOS Sweet Named at Oranjewerf Shiprepair Amsterdam
Vroon Offshore Services (VOS) new Subsea Support Vessel was named at Oranjewerf Shiprepair Amsterdam, part of Damen Shipyards Group, on February 8th, 2013. The vessel called at Oranjewerf early January after a voyage from China to The Netherlands to undergo a series of modifications at the shipyard. The new vessel is named after a Rolling Stones song. Among the various modifications Oranjewerf executed are the installation of a 24 tonnes crane and a fully equipped workplace in the aft.
Damen Introduces Anti-Fouling Foil
Port of Amsterdam starts with sustainable film on patrol vessel. Damen Shipyards (Gorinchem, Netherlands) and the Port of Amsterdam are launching a pilot project to test Thorn-D, a relatively new antifouling film that is applied to shipsā hulls below the water line. The film has an expected lifetime of five years. That is much longer than conventional antifouling coatings, which need to be replaced every six months on average.

Polarled Extreme Depth Pipeline Contract
The Polarled-pipeline will export gas from Statoil's Aasta Hansteen field in the Norwegian Sea to the Nyhamna gas plant. The dig and identify permit allows Seafarer to dig and determine various artifacts to help identify the ship. The final phase of excavation will be Phase III, full salvage. Seafarer received a permit from the State of Florida for a shipwreck site located off of Lantana Beach, Florida in 2012.
