Submarine, Cruiser Collide Off US East Coast
'USS Montpelier' arrives at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay & 'USS San Jacinto' at Naval Station Mayport to assess collision damage. There were no injuries reported after a U.S. Navy submarine and an Aegis cruiser collided earlier off the coast of the Eastern United States . The propulsion plant of the submarine was unaffected by this collision, and both vessels made it to port under their own power. The two warships were conducting routine training at the time of the accident.

InterManager, the international trade association for in-house and third party ship managers, has today appointed Gerardo Borromeo as its new President with immediate effect. Mr Borromeo, who was elected unopposed [October 11] InterManager AGM in Copenhagen, succeeds Alastair Evitt, Managing Director of Meridian Marine Management, who has completed his two-year term of office. Safety at Sea Delivers First Port Project
Glasgow-based marine safety consultancy, Safety at Sea Limited, has completed its first port project, for the Melones Oil Terminal, (MOT) in Panama. MOT is a 2.1million barrel capacity tank farm facility due to open before the end of 2012 on the Islas Melones, a greenfield development around eight nautical miles from the Pacific end of the Panama Canal. Safety at Sea provided a Marine Safety Assessment covering marine procedures and operational limits around the newly constructed terminal.

Return to Bremerhaven: The research vessel 'Polarstern' returns with new findings from the Central Arctic during the 2012 ice minimum. After a good two months. Since its departure from Tromsø (Norway) on 2 August 2012 Polarstern has travelled some 12,000 kilometres and conducted research at 306 stations.
