Resolve Completes Removal of LPG Cargo
Following weeks of preparation and more than seven days of intensive, round-the-clock operations, RESOLVE Salvage & Fire, (ASIA) Pte Ltd. announced that more than 1000 MT of volatile LPG 1- Butene have been removed from the stranded and wrecked freighter LPG OBERON in the Taiwan Strait. The Thailand-flagged freighter ran hard aground in strong winds early this year, seven miles from the Penghu archipelago 30 miles northwest of Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

Liquid Robotics, Inc. and Schlumberger announced the creation of Liquid Robotics Oil & Gas, a joint venture to develop services for the oil and gas industry using Wave Gliders, the world’s first wave-powered, autonomous marine vehicles. The joint venture will combine Liquid Robotics Wave Glider technology with Schlumberger oil and gas expertise and industry knowledge to integrate and deploy new solutions for customers worldwide.
Concordia Maritime Orders Tankers
Concordia Maritime signed a contract with Guangzhou Shipbuilding International (GSI), China for the delivery of two chemical parcel tankers of approx. 50,000 dwt at the end of 2014/beginning of 2015. The investment amounts to around $78.6m and the intention is to employ the vessels in the open market via its partner Stena Weco. The vessels are part of a series of six tankers designed by Stena Weco and Stena Bulk and developed by Stena Teknik together with GSI.
