Rena Shipwreck – Storm Sends More Containers Adrift
Salvors report the aft section of the wreck being subject to rolling movement in rough seas, with waves of 8-10m hitting the vessel. It is estimated that 11 containers (both 20 and 40ft) have been lost into the sea, however, extremely rough sea conditions are making it difficult to accurately assess numbers. With the movement of the aft section on the reef, it appears that the bridge section of the wreck is now completely submerged.
Singapore Shipyard Contracted for Ultra-deepwater Drill Rig
Sembcorp Marine, Jurong Shipyard gets US$ 568-million contract for semi-submersible deepwater rig for North Atlantic Drilling Ltd. The new rig will be constructed based on the Moss Maritime CS60 design – an enhancement of the Moss Maritime CS50E MKII harsh-environment ultra-deepwater semi-submersible rigs West Pegasus and West Leo which were delivered by Jurong Shipyard to Seadrill in March 2011 and January 2012 respectively. Delivery is scheduled no later than the first quarter of 2015.
Wave Power Generation – US Navy Hawaiian Project
The Navy hopes to expand its testing for ocean wave energy power generation in Hawaii, having been testing an energy buoy in about 100 feet of water off Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Kaneohe Bay for about 10 years. The Navy now hopes to put two more buoys in water more than 200 feet deep, and the greater depth will allow it to test larger devices closer to the size it needed to generate energy for customers.

The Skjold shipbuilding program is carried through by a consortium of three contractors with DCNS as the combat system design authority and co-supplier. DCNS works with Norwegian contractors Umoe Mandal and Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, through the Skjold Prime Consortium. Skjold FPB's are designed specifically for maritime security and safety missions in Norway’s littoral waters. The combat system is tailored to demanding environments and reduced crewing.
