Incat Crowther to Design 79-ft Cat Passenger Ferry
Incat Crowther announced the design of a 79-ft catamaran passenger ferry to be built by Baltic Workboats in Estonia. The vessel is a follow up to the Incat Crowther-designed 79-ft catamaran scientific research catamaran under construction at the yard, and will be operated in the Gulf of Riga, Estonia. Incat Crowther worked closely with Baltic workboats in their successful bid, developing a vessel utilizing the same platform as the research vessel.

On January 29, 2011 an ASA member company successfully refloated the research vessel Cabo de Hornos safely and redelivered her back to her owners in Talcahuano, Chile. The vessel was being built in a shipyard located in Talcahuano Naval Base when, on February 27th 2010, one of the largest earthquakes ever recorded hit the central region of Chile. The movement of the earthquake caused an accidental premature launch and the vessel slid into the sea.

Horizon Delivers M/V Capt. Kirby Dupuis
Horizon Shipbuilding, Inc., Bayou La Batre, Ala., has delivered the M/V Capt. Kirby Dupuis to Florida Marine Transporters of Mandeville, La. She joins her sister ship, the M/V Capt. W. D. Nunley in pushing cargoes throughout the inland waterways of the United States. The M/V Capt. Kirby Dupuis, designed by John Gilbert, is a 120 ft long by 35 ft wide, 10 ft draft, towboat vessel that is four-decked and is outfitted for service in areas restricted to overhead clearances and draft limitations.
MV Izumi Released by Pirates
The MV Izumi, which was pirated on 10 October 2010, was released from pirate control on 25 February. The Panama-flagged vessel and her Filipino crew of 20 are believed to be making for a safe port. There is no information on the condition of the vessel or the crew.
