Analytic Systems Certifying Products to ABS Standard

Analytic Systems has announced that it has responded to its commercial marine reseller network in North America and started the process of certifying their marine specific power conversion products. The first models to be certified to ABS standards are the new BCA1505 (1500W AC charger); the BCA310 (300W AC charger); the IPS300 (300W DC/AC Puresine inverter) and the VTC315 (Isolated DC/DC voltage converter).

Louisiana Manufacturer will Replace Coast Guard's Small Response Boat Fleet. Metal Shark Boats has been awarded a contract to replace the U.S. Coast Guard's fleet of Response Boat - Small (RB-S) vessels. Up to 470 boats will be delivered across the Coast Guard fleet, with an additional 20 boats will be available to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, with another ten slated for purchase by the U.S. Navy.

Great Lakes Coal Trade Down in October

Shipments of coal on the Great Lakes totaled 3 million net tons in October, a decrease of nearly 11 percent compared to September, and a drop of 9.6 percent compared to a year ago. The trade slumped even more â 20.7 percent â when compared to the 5-year average for October. Loadings at Lake Superior ports fell to 1.5 million tons, a decrease of 21.6 percent compared to a year ago. Shipments from Lake Michigan terminals rose 40 percent for the second straight month.

Rapp Hydema and Triplex were awarded a record-sized deck machinery contract for Australiaâs Commonwealth Scientific and Research Organization (CSIRO). CSIRO selected Teekay Holdings Australia and Sembawang Shipyard Pte Ltd. to carry out the design, build and commissioning of the vessel. Sembawang and Teekay appointed RALion (a joint-venture between Alion Science and Robert Allan LTD) to carry out the vessel basic design.

USNS Medgar Evers, the newest ship in the U.S. Navy's Lewis and Clark-class of dry cargo/ammunition ships operated by Military Sealift Command, was christened Nov. 12 during a morning ceremony at the General Dynamics NASSCO shipyard in San Diego.
