Hamworthy Wins Newbuild FSRU Regas Orders
Hamworthy has secured a contract for the supply of regasification technology on board what are understood to be the world’s first newbuild Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRUs). Two 170,000m3 storage capacity vessels, owned by Hoegh LNG, are being built at the world’s largest shipbuilder, Hyundai Heavy Industries. Under the terms of the contract, Hamworthy will deliver systems to the Ulsan-based yard, one apiece in December 2012 and February 2013.
Kvichak Building Two NYPD Boats
Kvichak Marine Industries, of Seattle, WA, is currently constructing two 44’11” X 14’7” Response Boat Medium – C (RB-M C) vessels for operation by the New York City Police Harbor Unit (NYPD). Kvichak delivered the first RB-M C, harbor launch #451, to the NYPD in May 2010. These vessels will be part of the NYPD fleet for missions of proactive anti-terrorism patrol, search, rescue and recovery operations.

The widow of the late civil rights leader Medgar Evers will christen the U.S. Navy's newest resupply ship, the USNS Medgar Evers , during a ceremony in San Diego this Saturday at the General Dynamics NASSCO shipyard. Myrlie Evers-Williams, former chairman of the NAACP and the widow of Medgar Evers, will name the ship by breaking a bottle of champagne against its hull during a traditional christening ceremony. Medgar Evers was an African American civil rights pioneer and World War II veteran.
