EBDG Launches Electric Buena Vista Ferry
A new cable-guided electric ferry, designed by Elliott Bay Design Group LLC (EBDG), began carrying passengers and vehicles across Oregon’s Willamette River at Buena Vista. The new electric Buena Vista ferry replaces a diesel-powered version which had been in service for more than 50 years. EBDG was chosen to design the vessel, which was built by Diversified Marine of Portland, OR. The new vessel was delivered in May, ahead of schedule, to Marion County, the ferry’s owner and operator.

IMA has completed a study of the floating production market, and the report documents strong growth in the business sector. According to the market survey, 14 floating production units have been ordered over the past four months – a record pace reflecting strong underlying market drivers. 256 floating production systems are in service or available worldwide. Mitsubishi Strikes Deal with Carnival Corp. to Build Two Cruise Ships
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) announced the company has reached an agreement, and signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA), with Carnival Corporation & plc calling for the construction of two new 125,000-ton cruise ships for its AIDA Cruises brand. The ships will be the largest ever constructed for this cruise line. Delivery for these two 3,250 passenger ships is scheduled in March 2015 and March 2016.

Incat Crowther Designs Third Catamaran for Offshore Unlimited
Incat Crowther is designing a 35m Catamaran Work Boat for Offshore Unlimited. The vessel will be the third vessel resulting from the three-way partnership between builder Richardson Devine Marine, Incat Crowther and the operator. The three partners have already developed the 24m Catamaran Unlimited in 2008 and the 28m Limitless in 2010. This third vessel will benefit from the experience gained by the operator, designer and builder from these earlier vessels.

Following an agreement between the Government of India and the Government of Sri Lanka, RESOLVE Salvage and Fire (Asia) Pte Ltd., a subsidiary of American-based RESOLVE Marine Group, Inc., has commenced the removal of six vessel wrecks that were sunk in Kankesanthurai Harbor (KKS) between 1994 and 1996 during the LTTE conflict.
