New Super Cranes, Georgia Port Authority
On Feb. 23, the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) announced the arrival of four new super post-Panamax cranes at the Port of Savannah. The new cranes arrived aboard the Dockwise M/V Tern, a specially designed vessel capable of moving large, heavy structures. “The arrival of four new super post-Panamax cranes is an excellent example of Georgia’s commitment to expand capacity and provide superior services,” said GPA Executive Director Doug J. Marchand.

With a 131 ft length overall and a length at the waterline of 124 ft, the M/V Putra Jaya Singosari is registered in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. The hulls 38.7 ft moulded beam and 15 ft moulded depth provides tankage for 305 tonnes of fuel oil and 170 tonnes of fresh water. Accommodation is provided for up to 22 crewmembers.

ASA Members Respond to USS Port Royal

River Ems Passage of AIDAluna
In the morning of 21 February 2009, the 69,200-gt club ship AIDAluna left the shipyard Meyer Werft for the North Sea. The Ems barrier was operated to support the passage down the river. In the midday hours of 21 February around 12 pm, AIDAluna passed the lock in Papenburg. Around 2 pm she reached the needle eye of the Friesen Bridge near Weener. Around 3:30 pm the ship passed the Jann-Berghaus Bridge at Leer. Both bridges have a maximum of 45 meters admission.
