Marlink Provides More Power to Viking
Baltic Sea cruise ferry operator, Viking Line, has entered into a new five-year contract with Marlink continuing its existing agreement for the supply and operation of its satellite communications and the enhancement of its Sealink(TM) systems onboard the company's fleet of ferries. From its head office in Åland, an island in the Baltic Sea between Sweden and Finland, Viking Line operates seven overnight cruise-ferries on routes between Finland, Sweden and Estonia.

Costa Deliziosa Completes Sea Trials
The new ship, The Costa Deliziosa, Costa’s 15th fleet member, built at Fincantieri’s Marghera (Venice) shipyard, was put through her paces in the open sea for the first time, with a series of running tests on the ship’s systems, machinery and engines. She completed the trials successfully. During the official trials performed at sea, the Costa Deliziosa was sailed at maximum speed (in excess of 23 knots), for eight hours non-stop during the endurance test.

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), through Keppel Shipyard Limited (Keppel Shipyard) and Keppel Verolme BV (Keppel Verolme), has secured two contracts worth a total of about $165m. The first project, secured by Keppel Shipyard from repeat customer Petrobras Netherlands B.V (PNBV), is for the pre-conversion of P-58, a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel for the Campos Basin.

Sister to Record-Setting Dredger Sets Sail
October 2009 saw the launching of the dredger, Leiv Eiriksson, from Spain’s Basque country. A sister ship to the record-breaking Cristóbal Colón that was launched in July 2008, the Leiv Eiriksson shares common specifications, featuring two MAN 16V48/60B medium-speed main engines and complete propulsion trains. The two vessels were ordered by Dredging and Maritime Management S.A., a subsidiary of leading dredging contractor, the Jan de Nul Group, based in Luxembourg.
