OSIL Uses Sontek ADCP
Ocean Scientific International Limited (OSIL) has designed a system for testing deployments by surrounding SonTek’s Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) with its own deployment frame. The ADCP is a 3-axis water current profiler with an intended range of 180 m that uses transducers and electronics designed to reduce side-lobe interference problems. The frame also contains a double failsafe recovery system using two Sonardyne acoustic releases per frame.
Alnmaritec Delivers “Wave Train”
Alnmaritec, an aluminum boat builder based in Northumberland, UK, recently announced the delivery of a new general purpose line handling and harbor support work boat to Western Australia. The “Wave Train” was built for South Sea Logistics Ltd., based in Geraldton, Western Australia. She is a customized version of the “Wave Angler” class of vessels from Alnmaritec and is the first boat that the company has ever sold to Australia.

Production Begins at Tyrihans
StatoilHydro has begun production from the Tyrihans oil and gas field in the Norwegian Sea. The new field comprises Tyrihans South, an oil field with a gas cap, and Tyrihans North, a gas and condensate discovery with a thin oil zone. The recoverable volumes in the reservoirs are 186 million barrels of oil and condensate, and 41.5 million standard cubic m of gas. Its proximity to other fields on the Halten Bank allows Tyrihans to use existing infrastructure.
