Damen’s new cutter suction dredger, the first of Damen CSD600 series, has started operations in Indonesia.The dredger was transported from Rotterdam, the Netherlands to Indonesia as deck cargo on a heavy lift carrier.The stationary dredger, which has been named Jhoni 58, is working on a maintenance dredging project.The dredging operation is located at the Port of Batulicin on the island of Kalimantan.

Dutch shipbuilder Royal IHC announced it has signed an agreement with the Vietnamese shipyard Nam Trieu for the construction of a 2,300 m³ trailing suction hopper dredger.This project, commissioned by De Boer - Dutch Dredging, marks the beginning of what is expected to be a long term collaboration in Asia, according to Royal IHC."The collaboration with Nam Trieu is the concretization of our two-pillar strategy," says CEO Derk te Bokkel. Royal Boskalis B.V. on Monday announced it has reached a deal to take full ownership of marine services and towage provider Smit Lamnalco, after another deal for the company to be acquired by Spain’s Boluda Group fell through.Dutch dredging contractor and marine services firm Boskalis, which has held a 50% stake in Smit Lamnalco alongside joint owner Saudi Arabia's the Rezayat Group since 1964, said it signed an agreement to acquire all remaining shares in the company.

Chesapeake, Va. based Norfolk Dredging Co. has been awarded a contract to perform maintenance dredging in Fire Island, N.Y.The $36,978,060 firm-fixed-price contract was awarded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' New York District. Norfolk Dredging was one of three bidders for the job.The work is expected to be completed by November 9, 2024.

Royal IHC announced it has won a contract from Baggerbedrijf de Boer - Dutch Dredging BV for the design and construction of a custom-built trailing suction hopper dredger with a hopper capacity of 2,300 m3.The Dutch shipbuilder noted it has already built four custom-built vessels for Dutch Dredging, and the new trailing suction hopper dredger will be an upgrade of the Lesse, delivered by Royal IHC to Dutch Dredging in 2019.
Public-private Partnership to Build $635 Million Port Terminal in Delaware

The State of Delaware will join the private operator of the Port of Wilmington, Enstructure, to build a new port terminal at a site in Edgemoor, Delaware. The Edgemoor industrial site was purchased in 2017 by the taxpayer-owned Diamond State Port Corporation (DSPC) which subsequently secured the necessary permits to construct a new port terminal.This $635 million infrastructure project will be largest shipping terminal in Delaware since the current Port of Wilmington opened in 1923.
Dredging of Suape’s Outer Channel Completed

Van Oord said it has finished the dredging of the outer channel to the Port of Suape in the Northeast of Brazil. The dredging of the channel up to 20 meters enables the port to handle larger, more efficient, container and (liquid) bulk vessels.Van Oord has deepened the access channel to the Port of Suape from 15 to 20 meters. To execute the project, Van Oord deployed various dredgers to meet the challenges of the project.
