Damen Stan Tug 1606 for Jan De Nul

Dredging company, Jan De Nul, has had 11 Damen Stan Tugs join its fleet in the last few years. In 2008, Jan De Nul placed an order for five additional Stan Tugs after another major order in 2007 when the Belgian firm ordered six Stan Tugs, as well as four Damen Fast Crew Suppliers. To be delivered over a period of 18 months, the five latest vessels have all been built at Albwardy Marine Engineering in Dubai, one of Damen’s joint venture shipyards in the Middle East.
$1.5M Contract for MacDuff Shipyard

Aberdeen Harbour has awarded Macduff Shipyards the contract to build a new workboat. The $1.5m vessel, inclusive of its high-tech survey suite is due for delivery in 2011, and will replace the port’s existing workboat. It will be fitted with twin 350 hp engines, a deck crane and at 147.f ft in length, will be used for general harbour activities including surveying, plough dredging and debris recovery.

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd’s (Keppel O&M) specialized shipbuilding arm, Keppel Singmarine Pte Ltd (Keppel Singmarine) has clinched three newbuilding contracts totaling about $98.5m. The first contract was awarded to Keppel Singmarine by Dutch dredging and marine contractor, Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) for the construction of a 159-metre long rock dumping fall pipe vessel to be completed in late 2011.

October 2009 saw the launching of the dredger, Leiv Eiriksson, from Spain’s Basque country. A sister ship to the record-breaking Cristóbal Colón that was launched in July 2008, the Leiv Eiriksson shares common specifications, featuring two MAN 16V48/60B medium-speed main engines and complete propulsion trains. The two vessels were ordered by Dredging and Maritime Management S.A., a subsidiary of leading dredging contractor, the Jan de Nul Group, based in Luxembourg.
