Dredging Contracts: Dutch Operator Shows Global Reach
Jan De Nul Group announce important contracts in Indonesia, Russia and Australia, and new giant dredger due soon from builders. In Indonesia an offshore island will be reclaimed. These works are a part of a large scale reclamation development north of Jakarta, where a 260 ha island is developed for Kapuk Naga Indah and designed for housing and recreation. One of Jan De Nul Group’s jumbo trailing suction hopper dredgers will be deployed.

POLB Gives New Oil Terminal a Green Light
The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners inks Letter of Intent to study development of a a 28-acre site on Pier T. The project is to construct a deep-water terminal for crude oil and petroleum products including gasoline, and the port has chosen Vopak Terminals North America Inc. to study the development. The preliminary agreement between the Port and Vopak sets basic deal terms and green-lights an environmental impact study of a “liquid bulk” terminal for petroleum tanker ships.

Panama Canal Completes Expansion Program Dredging
The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has completed the dredging to deepen and widen the navigational channels along Culebra Cut as part of the Expansion Program. This marks another important milestone for the Panama Canal expansion. The dredging works started in March 2008, with the drilling by Panama Canal personnel on board of the drill barge Baru. “This important achievement fills with pride each man and woman that works within the organization,” Panama Canal Administrator Jorge L.
