IHC Merwede Sells First IHC Beaver 65 DDSP

Following the launch of the IHC Beaver 65 DDSP in February, the first vessel has been sold to Advanced Construction Company, a member of the Al Geithy Group, based in Saudi Arabia. Testing was successful completed at IHC Merwede’s shipyard in Sliedrecht, The Netherlands, in early March and delivery to Jeddah will be organized in the second quarter of this year. After delivery the dredger will begin work in the Red Sea.

Boskalis Wins Hefty German Dredging Contract

Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) contracted by Wasser- und Schifffahrtsamt Cuxhaven to maintain 110-km of the River Elbe fairway. The contract is for a period of three years and has a value of approximately EUR 75 million and the dredging operations are to commence in May 2013. The dredging activities are related to maintaining the shipping fairway of the River Elbe between the city of Wedel northward in the direction of Cuxhaven.

Kongsberg Maritime will introduce the new EM 2040 Compact, a sophisticated multibeam echo sounder for high resolution mapping and inspection applications, during Ocean Business 2013. Based on the EM 2040 multibeam, the EM 2040C is a development in acoustic technology that makes detailed surveys of shallow water possible using small boats and launches. Kongsberg Maritime will also offer another variant, the EM2040CX for use on AUVs, ROVs and other vessels of opportunity.
IHC Merwede Reveals Healthy Profit Margin

IHC Merwede has revealed a healthy net profit margin of 4.1% in 2012 and a positive sales forecast for the year ahead. The company develops and builds vessels, equipment and life-cycle support services for the dredging, mining and offshore industries, which have been performing well – despite the global economic situation and the knock-on effect for the maritime industry. In 2012, IHC Merwede reached a revenue of €895 million and a net profit of €37 million.

Jan De Nul Group announce important contracts in Indonesia, Russia and Australia, and new giant dredger due soon from builders. In Indonesia an offshore island will be reclaimed. These works are a part of a large scale reclamation development north of Jakarta, where a 260 ha island is developed for Kapuk Naga Indah and designed for housing and recreation. One of Jan De Nul Group’s jumbo trailing suction hopper dredgers will be deployed.
