McLoughlin Launches New Harbor Tug

The latest general purpose harbour tug built by Macduff Shipyards has been launched, powered by WaterMota supplied engines. Eileen McLoughlin, owned and operated by John McLoughlin and Son (Shipping) Ltd. of Larne and Belfast, is the sister ship to Sally McLoughlin which was built in 2009. Both tugs are powered by twin Doosan 4V222TIH engines, each 588KW at 1,800RPM continuous output driving twin screws - four-blade 1,850mm diameter propellers in fixed nozzles.
GLDD Dredging Delivers Strong Q3 2013 Results

Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Corp. reports third quarter 2013 results. Dredging delivers a strong quarter with the backlog at a record high of $606-Million. The company says it is evaluating strategic alternatives for its demolition business. Revenue increased 22.4% to $198.8 million in the third quarter of 2013 compared to the third quarter of 2012, driven by the increase in coastal protection revenue and a joint Terra and Rivers & lakes remediation project.
TeamSurv Ocean Survey Project Boosted

TeamSurv, the crowd sourcing project to create better nautical charts, has won support and endorsement from the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC). TeamSurv has won a call by ESA to enter their Business Incubation Centre (BIC) at Harwell, Oxford. This provides TeamSurv with finance, with business and technical support, and with office space for the next year to enable a plan for a sustainable futureâŚ
Bureau Veritas Boosts Dutch Maritime Innovation

International classification society Bureau Veritas said it is boosting innovation and sustainability in partnership with Dutch owners, builders and designers. Jan Smit, Senior Vice President and head of the North Europe & North America Zone of BVâs Marine & Offshore Division, said, âBV was founded in the Low Countries and is a core part of the Dutch maritime industry which is pushing ahead with innovative designs focusing on operational excellence and energy efficiency.
New Blyth Workcat for Baltic Survey Work

Finnish survey company FCG (Finnish Consulting Group) Ltd. has placed an order for a new GRP survey boat from Blyth Workcats Ltd of Canvey Island, U.K. The 14-meter catamaran will be known as the Nordic Sonar and it is now being built to meet the specialized needs of the FCG survey teams. It will be based in Turku, Finland and is being fitted with comprehensive heating system and insulation suitable for its use in the demanding conditions around the Finnish coast and the northern Baltic.
China's Pingtan Sells Subsidiary Companies to Chairman
Nasdaq-listed Pingtan Marine Enterprise Ltd. (PME) is to sell its 100% owned dredging subsidiary, China Dredging Group and its PRC operating subsidiaries, Fujian Xing Gang Port Service Co., Ltd.

Jacksonville Ship Channel Dredge Authorization Denied

A big push for deeper water at Jacksonville's port has fallen short in the U.S. House of Representatives as the House Rules Committee voted against allowing the full House to consider an amendment offered by U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown, D-Jacksonville, that would have authorized a future 47-foot ship channel in Jacksonville, reports 'The Florida Times-Union' online. The rejection means when the full House begins debate soon on the Water Resources Development ActâŚ
Ocean Dredging Wins Mexican Contract

Ocean Dredging DSM Ocean inc., an Ocean sister company, will carry out a harbor dredging contract with its Mexican partner Dragados del Golfo, in Paraiso, a town located in the state of Tabasco in Mexico. The dredging of the port of Dos Bocas is a unique opportunity for Ocean and a first in Mexico. The dredging of the port of Dos Bocas will extend over a period of more than 60 days and a dozen Ocean employees will be required to carry out the work.
Cutter Suction Dredger Launched in Singapore

On Monday, October 7, Cutter Suction Dredger Cassiopeia V was launched by ASL shipyard in Singapore for Penta-Ocean Construction Co. Ltd from Japan. VOSTA LMG is responsible for delivery of the engineering and the dredging equipment. The Cassiopeia V is a self propelled Cutter Suction Dredger equipped with three dredge pumps, flexible spud carrier system, anchor booms, barge loading installation and a traveling deck crane.

Reef Subsea Dredging and Excavation (D&E) report they have secured a number of substantial contracts in the Middle-East and Asia Pacific as they continue to grow its global footprint.
