ASRY Slipway Repairs 6 Vessels Simultaneously
ASRY, a ship and rig repair yard in the Arabian Gulf, recently saw six vessels under repair simultaneously on its dual slipways in a sign that the yard’s small and medium sized vessel repair business continues to flourish since the opening of the its state-of-the-art slipways. Slipway occupancy at ASRY has risen year on year since they were opened in 2008, with 2013’s revenues attributed directly to slipway work increasing 7.24% on 2012.
KEIFCA Orders Blyth Workcat Patrol Boat
The Kent and Essex Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority (KEIFCA) placed a contract for a 17-meter GRP Blyth Workcat for use when monitoring fishing activities around the Kent and Essex coasts. The new boat is being built to meet the exact requirements of KEIFCA which has specified a durable craft capable of operating in extreme offshore conditions while undertaking a wide range of tasks relating to the monitoring of fish stocks and the supervision of fishing activities.

Lake Decatur Dredging Contract for GLDD
Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation (GLDD) says it has signed an US$89 million contract with the City of Decatur (IL) to provide dredging services to increase the capacity of Lake Decatur. Lake Decatur, the largest lake on the Sangamon River, was created after the river was dammed in 1922. The reservoir serves as the primary raw water source for Decatur’s 76,000 residents and large industrial sector.

Wärtsilä Sign Van Oord Parts & Service Agreement
Wärtsilä and Van Oord, the Netherlands-based contractor for dredging and offshore projects, have entered into an exclusive partnership for all field service and parts supply. The agreement covers preventive and corrective engine maintenance by Wärtsilä on Van Oord's fleet of dredging and other vessels. Senators Seek Funding for Great Lakes Maintenance

IHC Merwede says it has been successful in securing orders worth € 350 million for a wide range of dredging and offshore vessels and equipment, including a large trailing suction dredger for a Chinese customer. The company's Dredging division has confirmed new contracts for the delivery of a large custom-built trailing suction hopper dredger, with units that will be supplied by IHC Beaver Dredgers as well as a cutter suction dredger training simulator.

Delaware River Dredging Contract for GLD&D
Great Lakes Dredge and Dock LLC, Oak Brook, Ill., has been awarded a $14,177,652 firm-fixed-price contract by USACE for deepening the main channel of the Delaware River. The US Department of Defense estimate the completion date to be Nov. 30, 2014 and the contracting authority was Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia, Pa. The company claims it is the largest provider of dredging services in the United States and the only U.S. dredging service provider with significant international operations.
Tonnage Totals Grow 8% at Georgia Ports

Miami Harbor Dredging: GLDD Receives Further US$51.9-million
Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation (GLDD), says it has received the payment from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Jacksonville District which will bring the total value of GLDD’s Miami contract up to $174.1 million. There is $31.6 million remaining to be awarded under the current plan of the Corps. This option, which is the first of two options for the project, covers the dredging of Fisherman's Channel and Lummus Island Turning Basin, as well as dredging the adjacent berthing areas.

Upon review of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2014, Waterways Council, Inc. (WCI) is pleased with the FY 2014 Energy & Water Development Appropriations funding level of $5.467 billion, a $748 million increase over the FY 2013 post-sequester enacted level. Within the Civil Works budget, the Construction General Account receives $1.656 billion and provides $163 million for the Olmsted Lock and Dam project.
