Workboat requirements will soar as heightened safety requirements for LNG transit demand tighter oversight. Song Thu Lays Keel for New Dredger
The construction of a new vessel of dredging fleet, project TSHD 2000, has been launched to the RS class in Da Nang, Vietnam. The keel laying ceremony was held at Song Thu Corporation shipyard November 21, 2014. Hamburg Cargo Volumes at Record High
With total throughput of around 110 million tons, the Port of Hamburg set a new record in the first nine months of 2014. Almost all throughput segments contributed to a growth of 5.7 percent. A Nigerian customer added its ninth Damen dredger to its fleet. The Cutter Suction Dredger type CSD500 was chosen due to the availability of Damen Field Services in Nigeria, the builder said, adding that the local presence was even more practical in view of the challenging assembly conditions. For Damenās Service Hub Nigeria this job is one of the first successes. Damen Shipyards Group usually has a spares-stock available in Nigeria for standard dredgers such as the CSD500.
Damen Delivers Tug for Scrabster Harbor
Scrabster Harbor Trust (UK) has taken delivery of a new harbor tug / workboat, a Damen Stan Tug 1606. The vessel, named Highlanders, will replace itscurrent workboat which was built in 1976. The new tug will undertake pilotage, towing, general harbour and maintenance duties. Scrabster Harbour in northern Scotland is attracting much larger vessels and cargoes in need of larger tugs for their assistance.
