Hendry Marine CEO Aaron Hendry Passes Away
Aaron W. Hendry, husband, father and grandfather, as well as Florida business leader, died today at the age of 80. Aaron passed away peacefully in his home after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Aaron leaves behind his wife Barbara, six children and three grandchildren. “Aaron Hendry was a wonderful businessman, and a giant in the maritime industry,” said Dennis Manelli, ‎General Counsel and Chief Financial Officer at Hendry Marine.

$100M Tug Contract: Fourth Boat Delivered in South Africa
Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) is on track with its $100m tug building contract and celebrated the ceremonial launch of the fourth of its nine new tugs being built in Durban. The tug – named OSPREY in honor of the fish eagle – will serve at the Port of Saldanha. In line with maritime tradition, the duty of officially naming the vessel was carried out by Lady Sponsor, Thandeka Mabija, who earlier this month was appointed General Manager for Human Resources at TNPA.
GPA Marks Record August Box Volumes
At the Georgia Ports Authority board meeting Monday, Executive Director Griff Lynch reported the GPA achieved an August record of 330,846 twenty-foot equivalent container units, a robust increase of 5 percent compared to August 2015. "August container unit volumes were the third highest in the Authority's history, behind April and May 2015 at the height of diverted cargo from the West Coast," Lynch said.

Africa’s First Dredging Simulator Unveiled

Custom Dredge Keeps Santa Cruz Harbor Clear

Royal IHC Upgrades TSHD Pump for Van Oord
Royal IHC informs it has completed the upgrade of the underwater pump and jet water system on trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) VOLVOX TERRANOVA for Van Oord. The renovation involved a complete engineering package, including a plan of repairs for the ship’s hull and modifications to accommodate a jet pump unit and the frequency drive of the new submerged dredge pump unit. The delivery of a 1,700kW jet pump unit and the modification of the complete suction tube was completed on schedule.
