New Dredgers Delivered in Bangladesh
Following various dredgers recently delivered in Bangladesh, and the Damen Dredging Seminar held last month in Dhaka where her Excellency Leoni Cuelenaere, the Dutch Ambassador to Bangladesh was the honorable Chief guest, Damen said it has again delivered multiple dredgers from available stock. Damen Launches Electrically-driven Dredge Pump

New Cutter Dredger Launched for Jan De Nul
A newly built self-propelled cutter suction dredger, Willem van Rubroeck, was released into the sea at the Uljanik Shipyard in Croatia on August 28. The vessel is expected to be delivered to owner Jan De Nul Group in 2018. The vessel is 151.3 m long, 36 m wide and can reach speeds up to 12 knots. Willem van Rubroeck’s installed power is 40,975 kW, making it the world’s most powerful cutter dredger, according to Jan De Nul Group.
Two New Tugs for KZN Ports
Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) celebrated a twin milestone for its KwaZulu-Natal ports as part of its R1.4 billion ($106.3 million), nine-tug construction contract. On Thursday, 22 August the new USIBA tug was christened and named ahead of its delivery to the Port of Richards Bay, while the Port of Durban took delivery of its Umbilo tug which had been launched and named in May. The vessels are the sixth and seventh respectively to roll off the production line on time and within budget.

Load Cell Measures Dredging Line Tension

DSC Delivers Its First Tier 4 Final Dredge
In February 2017, DSC Dredge, based in Reserve, La., delivered its first-ever dredge equipped with a Tier 4 Final C32 ACERT Caterpillar engine to a minerals company located in the U.S. The Shark Class Dredge features an 18-inch hull-mounted dredge pump and 300 hp cutter drive assembly, and has a dredging depth capability of 56 feet. DSC supplied stainless steel hydraulic fittings and used anti-corrosion building practices, as the dredge will be working in a corrosive environment.

A newly built Damen Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) 650 has completed sea trials in Shanghai and is now underway to new owner, Gippsland Ports in Australia on her own keel. Dynamic Positioning for Inland Vessels
RH Marine recently installed the Rhodium 4500 dynamic positioning (DP) and tracking system on Hakkers’ new flagship, Noordzee, an inland multipurpose vessel that can be used for lifting, dredging or pile driving. Royal IHC Launches TSHD for Adani
Dutch shipbuilder Royal IHC informs it has launched Adani’s 8,000m3 IHC Beagle trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) – Shanti Sagar 18 – at a ceremony on July 7 at the builder’s shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel, The Netherlands. Shanti Sagar 18 will be mainly utilized for maintenance dredging. Its launch follows the previous TSHD launched for Adani – Shanti Sagar 17 on March 31 – to be deployed for capital dredging in challenging soils. Therefore, it was equipped with a heavier draghead.
