Veripos Appoints Scott as Regional Manager
Aberdeen-based Veripos, the leading supplier of GNSS positioning services to the world offshore industry, has appointed Angus Scott as Regional Manager of its Europe, Africa and Middle East (EAME) division. Cory Logistics Ships Pilot Boat to East Africa
Cory Brothers has just completed a pilot boat manoeuvre from Pembrokeshire to Kenya for commercial boat builder Mustang Marine. The boat was loaded directly from water onto a OXL heavylift vessel with 300te lifting capacity. Cory logistics project managed the full spectrum of services for the client including heavylift vessel agency, customs documentation, warranty surveying, insurance and managing technical issues.
IMCA Publishes World-Wide Diving Personnel Statistics
Figures published by the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) reveal that globally there was a reduction in offshore diving work in 2010, compared with 2009, possibly due to the economic environment. A peak of close to 3,500 diving personnel was employed offshore world-wide by 43 IMCA members (i.e. those who responded to the call for data). This compares with a peak of 4000 from 35 reporting companies last year so the reduction does not stem from fewer reports received.

Fairmount Glacier Positions FPSO Offshore Nigeria
Fairmount Marine’s powerful tug Fairmount Glacier has successfully assisted in the installation of the floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO) Usan, offshore Nigeria. For this operation Fairmount was contracted by Saipem Energies, which needed a 200 ton bollard pull tug for this job. FPSO Usan is one of the largest of its kind: 320 metres long and 61 metres wide. The unit is build by Hyundai Heavy Industries in Korea. The Usan oilfield is discovered about ten years ago.
Gibdock Nets Another Offshore Client
Gibraltar-based shiprepair yard Gibdock has added another name to its increasingly long list of clients in the offshore sector. In September the yard drydocked the 3000grt Boa Galatea, an offshore survey vessel, for Norway’s Boa Offshore. This is the first time that the family-owned Boa Offshore business, which operates a fleet of over 40 offshore vessels, has used Gibdock, and comes hard on the heels of other offshore vessel contracts handled this year by the yard for Solstad, DOF and others.
