Communication Satellite Launched for Intelsat
Intelsat S.A., a provider of satellite services, with International Launch Services (ILS) announced that an ILS Proton vehicle successfully launched the Intelsat 22 satellite from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. After a 15 hour and 30 minute mission, the Breeze M successfully released the Intelsat 22 satellite, weighing 6199 kg, into supersynchronous transfer orbit (SSTO) at a 65,000 km apogee.
Piracy – EU Naval Force Protects WFP Shipments to Somalia
One of Portugal's largest warships, the Vasco de Gama Class frigate NRP Corte Real added its name to the list of ships (EUNAVFOR) operating in the Horn of Africa sea area. The new addition to the fleet will mount counter-piracy operations, with a view to protecting WFP aid shipments to Somalia. Commissioned into the Portuguese navy in 1990 the Corte Real is no stranger to the Horn of Africa, having previously worked to prevent piracy under the 'OCEAN SHIELD' NATO Operation.

Fairmount Marine’s multipurpose support vessel Fairmount Fuji has assisted drillship Stena Forth, owned by Swedish Stena Drilling, when passing by Cape Town, South Africa. Fairmount Fuji was contracted to perform several cargo runs. Stena Forth anchored offshore Cape Town for crew changes and replenishments. Fairmount Fuji is equipped with a spacious 280 square meters deck. This makes her ideal for the transport of goods.

Singapore flag vessel m/v Bareli (35,881gt built 2004) is aground in Chinese waters having suffered hull damage. The crew has been rescued. The ship normally plies between ports in Africa and the Far East. The Fujian Maritime Rescue Center said that rescuers are working to retrieve the ship's fuel oil which has leaked into the sea, and they have called ship repair factories to send workers to help offload 1,913 containers loaded on the ship.

Rig Owner Gets $34m for 60-day Charter
Chariot’s wholly-owned subsidiary Enigma Oil & Gas has chartered the rig for two months to drill a single well on the Tapir South prospect, off Namibia. The Maersk Deliverer is an ultra-deepwater semi-submersible drilling rig, capable of operating in water depths of 10,000 feet and drilling to a depth of up to 30,000 feet. The rig has been operating off West Africa since Maersk took delivery in 2010 and most recently at the Narina-1 wildcat on Block LB-9, off Liberia struck oil.
