Piracy – French Warship Joins Counter-Piracy Force
The Counter-Piracy force of the European Union (EU NAVFOR), typically comprising 4 – 7 surface combat vessels patrolling the Gulf of Aden and Horn of Africa, has been joined by the French navy frigate FS Guépratte . The 125 meter long FS Guépratte with 3600 metric tonnes displacement is a second-line multi-mission stealth frigate of the French Marine Nationale, in service since 2001. Paradigm Drilling Services Secures Contracts
Paradigm Drilling Services has had a strong start to 2012, securing over £1 million of new contracts in the UK and overseas. The Aberdeenshire-based firm has signed a five-year lease on a 3,000 square-foot building adjacent to its headquarters on Thainstone Business Park, including workshop and office space to expand its research and development facilities with new drilling technology to be launched later this year. Advanced IBS for Polar Research Vessel
Raytheon Anschütz has recently completed the supply of their latest generation of Integrated Bridge System (IBS) to the “SA Agulhas II”, a new polar research ship owned by the Republic of South Africa’s Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA). Sea trials including demanding ice trial tests in the Gulf of Bothnia were successfully passed during March 2012. The 134 meters long vessel was designed and built by the STX Finland shipyard of Rauma.
