Maersk FPSO Sold
The unit has been in use at the Statoil-operated Peregrino field in Brazil since production start-up in 2011. The global FPSO contractor BW Offshore will take over operation of the FPSO after a transition period of about six months. The Peregrino FPSO project was initiated in 2007 and the conversion from a very large crude carrier (VLCC) to a complex offshore oil production installation required more than 15 million labour hours and an investment in excess of USD 1 billion.
Mercy Ships' "Walking Bloodbank"
The humanitarian organization Mercy Ships is taking the day to celebrate the heroic role that numerous blood donors play onboard its hospital ship, the Africa Mercy, which is currently docked in the West African port city of Lomé, Togo. Mercy Ships provides free surgical, medical and dental care to developing West African nations, along with health and medical training and infrastructure development.

Holland America Line and Marine Conservation Institute announced the recipients of the 2012 Mia J. Tegner Memorial Research Grants in Marine Environmental History and Historical Marine Ecology.
Fairmount Fuji Assisted Stena Icemax
Fairmount Marineās multipurpose support vessel Fairmount Fuji has assisted drill ship Stena Icemax while making a stop-over at Cape Town. On request of the owner of Stena Icemax the Fairmount Fuji carried out several cargo runs from the port of Cape Town to the anchorage. Stena Icemax was under way from the Far East to French Guiana and required to make a stop-over at Cape Town for crew change and replenishment.
TNPA South Africa Orders From Damen Shipyards
The Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) in South Africa has ordered a Pilot Cutter 2706 and its fifth Stan Tug 2006 with Damen Shipyards Cape Town for operations in the expanding Port of Saldanha (South Africa). Both vessels have been specifically designed for the South African market. The Pilot Cutter 2706 will be delivered in May 2013 and the tug in March 2013. TNPA already operates four Damen Stan Tugs in South Africa. The STu 2006 is an enlarged design, based on the STu 1906.
Harvey Gulf Acquires Bee Mar's Assets
Harvey Gulf International Marineās CEO, Shane Guidry, announced that, on June 4, 2012, Harvey Gulf signed an agreement with Bee Mar, LLC to purchase all of Bee Marās vessels and assets. The purchase will include 10 Offshore Supply Vessels, which will increase Harvey Gulfās fleet to a total of 32 vessels ā with 24 deepwater, new generation Offshore Support Vessels and 8 deepwater towing vessels. Upon closing, Harvey Gulf will have operations in the U.S.

Transnet SOC is South Africa's national transport arm and the governing body for the country's rail, pipelines, ports and terminals. During his keynote address, Molefe will discuss Transnet's recently announced, four-point growth strategy, which includes plans to invest R110.6 billion (US$12.9 billion) in new rail equipment, the widening and deepening of ports and building a new pipeline to solve South Africa's infrastructure challenges.

Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Comfort's Medical Treatment Facility changed leadership May 25 as Navy Capt. Kevin J. Knoop assumed command from Navy Capt. David K. Ribcraft Builds 6.8M RIBS for Fugro Seacore
British boat manufacturer Ribcraft will officially hand over the second in a batch of specially built 6.8M RIBS to overwater Marine Drilling Contractor Fugro Seacore at Seawork 2012. Ribcraft took on the challenge to create a RIB that met all the requirements set down by Seacore including single point lifting and Ullman suspension seats which are necessary to meet the latest EU directives for body vibrations.
