SENER Wins its First China Marine Engineering Contract
The SENER contracts are with the Chinese CSDDC ((China Ship Development and Design Center) & CSOC (China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Co. Ltd). Once built, the fishing vessel will be operated by the company CNFC (China National Fisheries Corporation) in the fishing-grounds of the coast of West Africa. This project represents an important milestone for SENER because it is the first marine engineering contract achieved in China.

Navy Researches Find Way to Track AIS 'Silent' Vessels
The Navy will soon get a leg by using 'Rough Rhino', an electronic system for locating illegal fisherman, drug smugglers, pirates, human traffickers and others at sea who don’t want to be found and thus switch off their Automatic Identification System (AIS). Today’s technology only allows ships to track other vessels not transmitting AIS if they are within the horizon, or about 25 to 35 miles, according to Dr. Michael Pollock, director for the electronics, sensors and networks division at ONR.

Aker Solutions Acquires Subsea Companies
Aker Solutions has acquired the Norwegian companies Subsea House and SSH Engineering and plans to further expand and recruit 50-100 people in Stokke, located in the Vestfold county of Norway. The transaction value is undisclosed. Subsea House and SSH Engineering, currently owned by Subsea Holding, employs 40 people in total. The companies were established in 2007 and have a solid background within development, assembly, testing and refurbishment of subsea tools and products.
