London Fundraiser Row to Benefit Malawi Clinic-Ship Project
The 'Big Row' is raising funds for the restoration of Africa's oldest motor ship, 'MV Chauncy Maples', as a clinic-ship able to get to villages on Lake Malawi where there are currently no roads and access to health services. The qualified team will deliver primary health services such as prevention and treatment for bilharzia, malaria, TB and HIV/AIDS; child immunisation; reproductive health care and nutritional programmes.
Warship Gives Maersk 'Triple-E' Safe Passage
The Dutch Frigate 'HNLMS Van Speijk', part of NATO’s counter-piracy Operation Ocean Shield, ensured the safe passage of the 'Maersk McKinney Moller' on maiden transit through the Gulf of Aden. The 400-metre long, 165,000 ton commercial ship is on its maiden voyage from Asia to Europe. NATO's counter-piracy efforts, in conjunction with other maritime forces operating in the region, help ensure the free flow of commercial trade through the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean.
New Brazilian Navy Ship Leaves U.K.
The newest ship in the Brazilian Navy’s fleet departed the U.K. on a journey of more than 10,000 miles to Brazil. Araguari is the third of three Amazonas Class ocean patrol vessels delivered to the Brazilian Navy by BAE Systems. She is designed for maritime security, as well as being able to support humanitarian relief and search-and-rescue operations. Her two sister ships, Amazonas and APA, were delivered by BAE Systems last year and have already begun operations in Brazil.

Jaya Holdings Limited say that the new PSV was delivered on schedule and on delivery went on-hire immediately, embarking on its maiden voyage as part of a long term charter contract in South East Asia with an existing customer undertaking fracturing work. The 160,000 m3 cargo - which left Soyo aboard the SS SONANGOL SAMBIZANGA last month - has been safely unloaded at Petrobras' regasification terminal in Guanabara Bay, Rio de Janeiro.
