Euronav: Extension of FSO Financing
Euronav announced that it has, jointly with Overseas Shipholding Group, Inc., signed a two-year extension of the tranche related to the FSO Africa (the Africa Tranche), part of the $500 million senior secured credit facility originally signed in October 2008. At the time of the extension, $ 45 million was outstanding in respect of the Africa Tranche. At its new maturity (now scheduled for August 2015), the Africa Tranche will be fully repaid.

West African States Lack Means to Fight Piracy
By John A. The western African states have said clearly they do not have the naval, coast guard or customs resources to deal with the piracy evident in the Gulf of Guinea. Further, they do not say, but it is clear, they do not have the money to do it. Piracy is now confined to one principal area. But piracy is similar to blood — a little spilled goes a long way. Piracy will spread elsewhere when and if strong emphasis is put on the Gulf of Guinea.

Jaya Wins $20 Million Contract in East Africa
Jaya Holdings announced it has signed a contract to charter its newbuild DP2 Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) Jaya Vigilant for a long term operation in the Indian Ocean, offshore Mozambique. The two-year contract, which includes charterer’s options, has a value of more than $20 million. Jaya Vigilant, designed as a large PSV, is now being upgraded with additional equipment required for the charter’s work scope prior to delivery from Jaya’s own yard in Batam, Indonesia at the end of September 2013.

Salvors Plan to Fly Oil Off Stranded Bulk Carrier
Marine salvors plan to airlift oil from the abandoned oil-leaking cargo ship 'Kiani Satu' stranded off the beach at Buffels Bay, near Knysna, on the Western Cape of South Africa. The Johannasburg online newspaper 'Times Live' citing SAMSA spokesman Captain Nigel Campbell, reports that salvors are currently drilling into [bunker] tanks to take the fuel oil out, but as it has not been heated for a week they plan to put it into plastic tanks and fly it off the ship using helicopters.
Transas Provides ECDIS for Nonprofit Vessel
Transas Marine will supply and install its Navi-Sailor ECDIS Multifunction Display for the nonprofit GBA Ships e.V.’s service vessel Logos Hope, a deal in part financed by donation from the Transas Marine. GBA Ships is a private, nonprofit entity registered in Germany, which operates ships that sail around the world to bring knowledge, help and hope.
