ASRY, ABB Industries Sign Agreement
Ship and rig repair specialist ASRY reports that it has signed a co-operation agreement with ABB Industries (LLC), Dubai, a division of ABB Turbocharging, a leader in the manufacture and maintenance of turbochargers for two-stroke and four-stroke engines for various types of vessels. The agreement will see ABB open a new workshop in ASRY, provide international factory warranties from ASRY, and provide onsite accessibility for ASRY customers to ABB’s worldwide Service Network.
Seychelles CG Cadets Enter Seamanship Training
On Friday, March 21, 17 trainees who are part of the Basic Training Program for the Seychelles Coast Guard received training in seamanship skills on board the Dutch warship, HNLMS Evertsen, operating under NATO Ocean Shield Task Force 508. The Basic Training Program for the Seychelles Coast Guard is a 27 week program for new trainees that have been developed by the Coast Guard and EUCAP Nestor. The program is also supported by other international partners such as Operation Ocean Shield.

Topaz Energy and Marine, a offshore support vessel company, announced the results of its subsidiary Nico Middle East Ltd. for the 12 months ended December 31, 2013. The period has seen continued strong and profitable growth across the group’s activities with revenues up 22% and EBITDA up 17%. This growth is primarily attributable to the additional vessels that have joined the fleet and the improved utilization (94.5%) it achieved across its core fleet.

Floating Production Inventory Continues to Grow
The number of floating production systems continues to grow; 349 floating production units are now in service, on order or off-field/being remarketed. This inventory is 5% higher than a year ago, 27% higher than five years ago. Current Inventory: Of the total, 320 units are used for oil/gas production. Included in this figure are 211 FPSOs. They are the most common type system, comprising 65% of the existing systems and 72% of the systems on order.
Otto Marine Send Two AHTS to GoM, One to W. Africa
Offshore marine services firm Otto Marine informs it has obained a total of US$24.9 million in charter contracts for three offshore vessels – Redfish 4, Go Canopus and Go Altair. Redfish 4, an 8,000bhp Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessel equipped with dynamic positioning 2 capabilities will be deployed for work on long term charter in Mexico. Go Canopus, a 10,800bhp AHTS vessel built in 2009 with DP2 technology has been contracted on long term charter, also for work in the Gulf of Mexico.
New North Sea CNR Contract Requires Second Harkand Vessel
Subsea inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) group Harkand says it is to position a second dive support vessel in the burgeoning North Sea sector after securing a major contract with CNR International (CNRI). The contract will see Harkand deliver jacket life extension works, IRM scopes and inspection services in the second quarter of 2014 for CNRIÂ’s Ninian South platform and Lyell field, located approximately 150km north-east of the Shetland Islands.
Stena RoRo Heads Hospital Ship Construction
International charity Mercy Ships recently signed an agreement for the construction of the world's largest civilian hospital ship tentatively named Atlantic Mercy, and Stena RoRo announced that it is engaged as project manager. The vessel, an investment of more than $100 million, will be built at the Chinese Tianjin Xingang Shipyard, and delivery is expected by July 2017. Atlantic Mercy will serve across the world with approximately 9-10 month-long stops in each port.
