Acta Centaurus Supports Deutsche Bucht

Netherlands-based workboat provider Acta Marine said that its new walk-to-work vessel Acta Centaurus with SMST equipment in Deutsche Bucht has carried out first operations.

Acta Centaurus has now been working for 1.5 months at the Deutsche Bucht offshore wind farm. SMST designs and builds offshore equipment. The SMST products covers a wide range of systems for access, lifting, drilling, pipe lay and specials.

During this first charter with MHI Vestas, the new built DP2 Service Operation Vessel (SOV) supports installation and commissioning of 31 turbines. The operations with the SMST provided Access & Cargo Tower with motion compensated gangway and 3D Motion Compensated Crane, on board the Acta Centaurus, are successful.

Acta Marine has chosen SMST’s Access & Cargo Tower to increase the logistic performance and operational workability of the Acta Centaurus, built to Ulstein’s SX195 design.

The integrated tower with elevator and telescopic motion compensated gangway, enables stepless transfer of technicians and cargo from vessel to offshore structure, in a safe and efficient way in significant wave heights up to 3 meters. The landing height adjustment system of the Access & Cargo Tower travels to platform heights up to 24.9 meters.

The Motion Compensated Crane is designed to transfer cargo safely to the offshore structure. The crane performs 3D compensated lifts up to 6 ton and provides a large operational window enabling the vessel and its crew to operate in sea conditions up to Hs 2.5 meters.

During the first operations SMST’s personnel is onboard for assistance of all delivered equipment. For operation of the gangway and 3D crane SMST provides qualified training on-board for the vessels own crew.

With the delivery of the SMST equipment to Acta Marine’s Acta Auriga and Acta Centaurus, SMST enlarges its track record of the Access & Cargo Towers to a total of 4 delivered and 4 systems ordered.
