AAL Kembla's Maiden Call at Hamburg Port
Port of Hamburg welcomed the âAAL Kemblaâ on her first call in Germanyâs largest universal port. She berthed at C. Steinwegâs multi-purpose Süd-West-Terminal.AAL Shipping is deploying the heavy-lift/project cargo ship on its new monthly liner service connecting ports in Europe, the Middle East, India and Asia. The service is overseen by AALâs Hamburg office, opened in 2012, which also offers tailormade tramp chartering shipping to all regions in the world. Built in 2011, the âAAL Kemblaâ is one of the carrierâs second generation A-class multi-purpose, heavy-lift vessels. She is 193.81 meters long and 29.1 meters wide, with a draft of 9.2 meters. The vessel has four shipboard cranes and a maximum lift capacity of 700 tons.
Three More Vessels Join SAL Heavy Lift

Most Powerful Offshore Wind Turbine Erected
Swiss multinational equipment manufacturer Liebherr Group said that its cranes erected the prototype of what is currently the most powerful offshore wind turbine in the world in the Dutch port of Rotterdam.The gondola of the wind turbine, which measures an overall 207 meters in height, has a net weight of 675 tonnes. It was the heaviest load for the two Liebherr crawler cranes used for the job. Van Oord, Hendrik in Lifting Equipment Deal
Dutch maritime contracting company Van Oord is partnering with compatriot company Hendrik Veder Group for the management of heavy lifting equipment for offshore wind turbines.Rotterdam-based company active in steel wire and fibre rope products and services said that under the terms of the two-year agreement, Van Oord will outsource its hoisting and lifting equipment management to the Hendrik Veder Group, with a focus on sustainable lifting.According to Michiel Pieterman, Offshore Wind Operations Manager at Van Oord: "This partnership enables us to use lifting equipment in a sustainable way. Mammoet SPMTs Cantilevered
Dutch company specialized in engineered heavy lifting and transport Mammoet said that its crews have successfully set 108 total shoulder spans on the southbound lanes of the New Orleans Causeway in Louisiana by means of the self-propelled module transporter (SPMT) used as a cantilever set atop a barge.The shoulders are located between the crossovers, giving motorists and first responders a safe place to pull over when there are breakdowns or accidents. This endeavor is considered the most significant improvement to the almost 24-mile-long bridge since the second span was completed in 1969. UAE-based Albwardy Damen has signed a service agreement with the provider of heavy-duty marine cranes Heila Cranes. Liebherr Crane Loads Massive Oil Platform
Mexican crane and heavy haulage contractor ESEASA used its Liebherr LR 13000 crawler crane for the first time to load oil platforms onto barges at the port city of Tampico.Tampico is on the Gulf of Mexico and is a major industrial center with its own port. A large number of industrial companies have made their homes on the banks of the Rio Pánuco, to enable them to ship their freight down the river to the sea.ESEASA also has a company site directly on the banks of the waterway. The company is currently manufacturing seven oil platforms there for state oil group PEMEX. These were hoisted onto barges in component form by the LR 13000 before being transported to the south of the Gulf of Mexico.The loads for hoisting were gigantic.

OHT Heavy Lifter Keel Laying

BP Orders BOS 2600 Offshore Crane
Ship cranes manufacturer Liebherr-MCCtec Rostock GmbH together with China's Yantai CIMC Raffles Shipyard signed a contract concerning the delivery of a board offshore crane, type BOS 2600.The German maritime cranes maker said BP will use the crane for supply and maintenance tasks on a jack-up accommodation platform off the coast of West Africa.The BOS 2600 is a compact and function-orientated crane design within the well-known Liebherr Offshore crane series and therefore the ideal solutions for platforms where space on deck is limited.âBecause of the particular requirements of this project, we are pleased that CIMC Raffles awarded us the contract for the project.
Konecranes Retrofits Crane in DP World Liège
Konecranes Port Services, the team of crane and lifting engineers, software developers and product technicians, will retrofit electrification to a Model 2 Konecranes Gottwald Mobile Harbor crane in DP Worldâs Liège Container Terminal in Belgium, lowering the terminalâs local emissions and noise.The Port of Liège, strategically located along the Meuse river in eastern Belgium, is the third-largest river port in Europe, directly linked to both Antwerp and Rotterdam.The DP World Liège Container Terminal (DPW LCT) is the only trimodal terminal in Wallonia, operating four barges to Antwerp every week.The Konecranes Gottwald Model 2 Mobile Harbor Crane was purchased in 2016 and has been working at DPW LCTâs South Terminal.
ALE Installs WTG in Australia
The global heavylift and transportation provider ALE Heavylift said that its K1650L tower cranes have begun work to install wind turbine generators (WTG) near Port Augusta in southern Australia, where they will help to power 155,000 homes.It is the first time this type of crane has been used for wind turbine installation in Australia. ALE has brought two of the innovative cranes to the country, where one recently commenced work at Lincoln Gap Wind Farm.The K1650L tower crane was selected for the project due to its high wind speed tolerance and small footprint. Cargotec subsidiary Kalmar has supplied Ashdod Port Company, Israel with a total of eight Kalmar G generation medium forklifts and seven Kalmar Gloria reachstackers.The provider of cargo handling solutions and services to ports said that the order was booked in Cargotecâs 2018 Q3 order intake and delivery of all machines was completed during Q2 2019.Opened in 1956, Ashdod Port is Israel's largest marine port by cargo volume and is a major gateway for goods and cargo to and from the State of Israel. Kalmar to Deliver Forklift to Antwerp
The provider of lifting solutions, Kalmar has been awarded a contract to supply Antwerp Euroterminal NV (AET) with six Kalmar forklifts of varying specifications, including one fully electric model.The order, which also includes a Kalmar Complete Care service contract covering all the machines, was booked in Cargotec's 2019 Q2 order intake with delivery scheduled to be completed during Q4 2019.AET, is the largest multipurpose terminal in Europe and home to vessels of the Grimaldi Group. The terminal specialises in different types of cargo including break bulk, containers, project cargo, and vehicles. The terminal is already home to a fleet of approximately 20 Kalmar forklifts with lifting capacities ranging from 12 to 37 tons.
SAL Fly High With New Extension
SAL Heavy Lift, a carrier specialized in sea transport of heavy lift and project cargo, has installed a Fly-Jib crane boom extension on MV Lone which will be used on an offshore wind project in Taiwan.The Hamburg-based company said in a press release that the Fly-Jib extends the crane hook to the height of some 70 metres and can be installed to each of the main crane booms of SALâs Type 183 vessels.With the much greater lifting height and further outreach, SALâs new Fly-Jib can meet clients demands when units become ever bigger and where one faces requirements to lift long components vertically â e.g. with offshore wind equipment.
