IHC Merwede Sells First IHC Beaver 65 DDSP
Following the launch of the IHC Beaver 65 DDSP in February, the first vessel has been sold to Advanced Construction Company, a member of the Al Geithy Group, based in Saudi Arabia. Testing was successful completed at IHC Merwede’s shipyard in Sliedrecht, The Netherlands, in early March and delivery to Jeddah will be organized in the second quarter of this year. After delivery the dredger will begin work in the Red Sea.
IHC Merwede Reveals Healthy Profit Margin
IHC Merwede has revealed a healthy net profit margin of 4.1% in 2012 and a positive sales forecast for the year ahead. The company develops and builds vessels, equipment and life-cycle support services for the dredging, mining and offshore industries, which have been performing well – despite the global economic situation and the knock-on effect for the maritime industry. In 2012, IHC Merwede reached a revenue of €895 million and a net profit of €37 million.

IHC Merwede Constructs Three Pipelaying Vessels
IHC Merwede is building three 550t pipelaying vessels simultaneously at its Krimpen aan den IJssel yard in The Netherlands. The keel-laying ceremony for the first of two identical 550t pipelaying vessels for TL Offshore, a subsidiary of SapuraKencana, took place on Tuesday 15 January. This event was held one week ahead of the original schedule and was performed by Mr Darryl Peter Nelson, Project Director with TL Offshore.
IHC Merwede delivers DCI Dredge XIX
On Thursday 15 November, the delivery of the 5,500m³ trailing suction hopper dredger, DCI Dredge XIX, took place at Waalhaven in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The dredger was received by the Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) Manager Mr YSR Murthy three weeks ahead of the contractual delivery date. IHC Merwede’s contract with DCI is for the design, engineering and delivery of the vessel. The company was selected due to its efficiency and reliability in delivering previous orders on time.
IHC Merwede Lays Keel Ahead of Schedule
On Wednesday 22 August 2012 the keel-laying ceremony for the 550t pipelaying vessel for Subsea 7 took place at IHC Merwede’s yard in Krimpen aan den IJssel (The Netherlands). The keel laying was performed by Mr Rien Smallegange, Subsea 7’s Deputy Project Manager. IHC Merwede’s contract with Subsea 7 is for the design, engineering and construction of a new advanced pipelaying vessel, which will have an overall length of 146 meters, a beam of 30 meters and a Class-2 dynamic positioning system.

IHC Merwede Launches Pair of Dredges
Successful launch ceremonies for DOHUK and KARBALA by IHC Merwede. IHC Merwede has successfully launched the 500m3 grab hopper dredger, DOHUK, and the 3,500m3 trailing suction hopper dredger, KARBALA, in two ceremonies on 25 July 2012 at the company’s shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel, The Netherlands. The DOHUK was launched early in the morning, followed later by the ceremony for the KARBALA. The vessels were named by breaking a jar of yoghurt over the bow.
IHC Merwede Signs Agreement with Jaya
IHC Asia Pacific, a subsidiary of IHC Merwede, has signed an agreement with Jaya Shipbuilding and Engineering Pte Ltd, which enables IHC Asia Pacific’s high-specification offshore vessels to be produced by Jaya at its yards in Singapore and Batam, Indonesia. As part of the wide-ranging terms, IHC Merwede will also provide engineering support services to Jaya. The agreement creates the opportunity for future cooperation between the two companies.

IHC Merwede Secures Orders for Pipelaying Vessels
IHC Offshore & Marine, part of IHC Merwede, and SapuraCrest have signed two contracts for the design, engineering and construction of two new 550t pipelaying vessels. A third contract has been signed with OSX Construção Naval S.A.
