Great Lakes Shipyard Contracted for USCG Cutter Repairs
Great Lakes Shipyard hauled out the United States Coast Guard Cutter Neah Bay (WTGB-105) using its 770-ton capacity Travelift. The repair contract, awarded to the Shipyard in early March, includes routine drydocking and underwater hull maintenance such as inspection and testing of propulsion systems; overhaul of sea valves and shaft seal assemblies; and other various cleaning, inspections, and repairs.

The American Courage of American Steamship Company departed Cleveland Saturday, March 23 after two months of lay-up at Great Lakes Shipyard. The Shipyard was contracted by American Steamship to perform winter work services on their vessel. Such work included miscellaneous steel work, generator maintenance, main drive unit maintenance, and other various repairs and maintenance. The American Courage is the last of three lakers to complete their winter work at Great Lakes Shipyard this season.

Great Lakes Shipyard Has Capacity
Great Lakes Shipyard says it is ready and able to accept winter work projects for the current and upcoming off seasons. Their facility is located on 16 acres in the Old River Channel on the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland, Ohio with water front dockage of approximately 2,000 lineal feet with an additional 3,800 lineal feet of available water front dockage on the Cuyahoga River proximate to the shipyard.

Great Lakes Shipyard contracted by Interlake Steamship Company to perform winter work services on two vessels. Two more vessels have arrived: Interlake Steamship vessels, the ATB Dorothy Ann and the Pathfinder, are in Cleveland and docked at Great Lakes Shipyard's facility. A variety of work is to be done, including: miscellaneous steel work, generator maintenance, main drive unit maintenance, and other miscellaneous tug and barge repairs and maintenance.

Great Lakes Shipyard Completes Repair Contract
Great Lakes Shipyard completed repairs on the Ohio Department of Natural Resources research vessel GRANDON. In late June, ODNR awarded Great Lakes Shipyard with the contract to provide repairs to the vessel, including drydocking, blasting, painting, and electrical and lighting replacements. The R/V GRANDON is part of the Fairport Harbor Fisheries Research Station for the ODNR’s Division of Wildlife.

At Great Lakes Shipyard, Cleveland, OH, the laying of the keel marks the start of construction on a 60-foot work boat for the Port of Milwaukee. The city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin awarded the contract in June 2011. The vessel is scheduled for completion by the end of this year. Nautica Queen at Great Lakes Shipyard for Repairs
Great Lakes Shipyard, Cleveland, Ohio, will perform deck repairs to the Nautica Queen. The 124 ft long Nautica Queen was built in 1981 and is home-ported in Cleveland, Ohio on the west bank of the flats. The Nautica Queen can accommodate up to 400 passengers in the two enclosed decks and spacious observation deck on the top of the ship. The vessel hosts lunch and dinner cruises as well as Sunday brunch and also hosts corporate and birthday parties as well as wedding receptions.
Great Lakes Shipyard Repairs Second Miller Boat Ferry
Great Lakes Shipyard of Cleveland, Ohio, finished maintenance and repairs on Miller Boat Line’s ferry William Market for its U.S. Coast Guard five-Year inspection. The work included repairing the ramp, installing hydraulic silencers, hull painting, blasting and painting ballast tanks, installing two new props and painting the upper deck. In addition to this, all of the ferry’s exterior fiberglass bench seats were replaced with new aluminum bench seats.
