ABS Breaks Ground on Offshore Energy Center
ABS, a provider of classification services to the global offshore industry, is establishing an office in Houston's Energy Corridor near the intersection of Interstate 10 and Highway 6. The new facility will co-locate members from ABS engineering, project management, technology and business management, allowing ABS to better serve its client base in this significant energy research and development hub.
ABS Appoints Chief Scientist for CFD
ABS, a provider of maritime and offshore classification services, appointed Dr. Richard Korpus as Chief Scientist, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). In the Chief Scientist role, Korpus will support the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and the organization through his focus on developing and applying CFD technology. "We see technology as the road forward," said ABS Chairman and CEO Christopher J. Wiernicki.
ABS Releases Chemical Tanker e-Learning Package
ABS, a provider of maritime classification services, launched Chem-eL, a specialized training package designed to support safety and competence in chemical tanker operations. Chem-eL is a sector-specific e-learning marine product developed in accordance with the requirements stated in the International Maritime Organization's International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers and the relevant IMO Model Course.
FloScan: ABS Certification for New Flowmeters
FloScan Instrument Company said that the new Series K Stainless Steel Diesel Flow Sensor that has earned ABS Product Design Assessment Certification. FloScan is a manufacturer of fuel monitoring systems for permanent installation on diesel and gasoline engines. FloScan Systems are installed worldwide on commercial and recreational vessels, stationary industrial generators and general aviation aircraft.
Riva to Serve as ABS Chief Surveyor
ABS Chairman and CEO Christopher J. Wiernicki announced the appointment of Joseph "Joe" Riva to the position of ABS Vice President and Chief Surveyor. This role is responsible for guiding and overseeing all ABS survey activities, applying a strong knowledge of ABS Rules and Guides and international regulations to create consistency and quality in service delivery. Riva will succeed Linwood "Lenny" Pendexter, who has held the position for ten years.
