Marcelo Puscar has been appointed as director of marketing at Volvo Penta of the Americas. Previously director of marine sales for Latin America, Puscar will relocate from Volvo Penta Brazil to the company’s headquarters in Chesapeake, Va., where he will be responsible for managing and implementing a strategic marketing plan that builds, promotes and communicates Volvo Penta’s brand, products and services in the marine and industrial market sectors.

Volvo Penta introduced the first two models of its next-generation sterndrive marine gasoline engines. The new 4.3-liter catalyzed V6 engines, rated at 200 and 240 hp, will supplement Volvo Penta’s current V6 product line. Volvo Penta will roll out the complete new family of next-generation V6 and V8 gasoline sterndrive engines during 2015 and 2016, expanding on the V8-380 introduced by Volvo Penta in 2012.

Fort Ripley, a new offshore emergency response craft now entering service in Charleston, S.C., is reported to be the first commercial vessel in North America to be powered by triple Volvo Penta IPS drives. In a bid to expand its parts and service network across the Americas, Volvo Penta said it has appointed Entreposto as its newest dealer for Industrial and Marine Commercial engines in Brazil. One of Brazil’s largest distributors of industrial equipment, Entreposto will provide customers with products, parts and service from its five branches covering the northeast region of the country. The Entreposto Group came to Brazil in 1975, starting its operation selling agriculture machines.

Volvo Penta announced two key appointments to strengthen its management team in the Americas: The company has appointed Ed Monacchio as vice president distribution development, region Americas and Gabriel Barsalini as general manager, South America. CTruk Launches First Volvo Penta IPS Workboat

CTruk, a British boat builder specializing in high-speed composite marine craft, including catamaran workboats and wind farm support vessels, has delivered its first workboat equipped with Volvo Penta IPS (Inboard Propulsion System) to Sima Charters of Holland. With its propulsion technology, including a joystick control for safe and easy docking, Volvo Penta IPS is suited for many marine commercial applications, as demonstrated by the SC Falcon CTruk 20T MPC offshore wind vehicle.

Based on impressive fuel consumption and performance results from the Volvo Penta engines installed in a new-construction pushboat, the operator decided to repower one of its older vessels with the same D16 engine package. When Volvo Penta supplied the main propulsion system for the M/V Ted Kayser, a new 60-foot pushboat christened at the end of 2012, it was Allemand Industries, Inc., the Volvo Penta Regional Power Center in Harvey, LA, that oversaw the installation.
